Local attractions
Montra Skaga Hotel is situated in the north of Denmark a mere 300 metres from some of the most beautiful beaches. In the close vacinity there are a lot of exciting attractions.
The North Sea Oceanarium, Europes largest aquarium is situated just across the road from the hotel. The oceanarium has lots of different aquariums, outdoor sealarium and the "Oceanariet" a gigantic aquarium filled with 4,5 mio. liters of north sea water. Buy your entrance ticket in reception and save money. This offer is only valid for guests statying at the hotel.
Hirtshals Museum, which is in the center of Hirtshals, is built around an old fishermans cottage anno 1915. Inside the museum is the worlds only "bitter" museaum. Bitter is a local trationalal snaps made from wild herbs growing in the forests and dunes.
Bunker Museum, is situated close to the Hirtshals lighthouse. The Museum is Danmarks only remaining bunker from the 2nd world war which is open to the public.
Hirtshals Lighthouse, is an impressive 35 meter tall building built in 1862. After ascending the 144 steps the views of the harbour, coastline and town are fantastic.
Hirtshals Fun Park, has lots of activities for the whole family. The park is an open farm where the children can come in contact with lots of animals, other attractions are large play area, bouncy castle, mooncars etc.
The Old General Store, is situated in Tornby approx. 5 km. from the hotel. The shop is over 200 years old. The children will enjoy playing with the old fashioned weights and measures, for the adults there are various exhibitions.
The Hotel is well situated for visiting the town of Hirtshals or the harbour and Hirtshals Bowling Center is only 200 m from the hotel.
If you fancy a game of golf there are 6 golf courses, 3 of which we have green fee arrangements with within a ½ hours drive from the hotel (see under golf stays). There are museaums, art galleries, glass blowers, an eagle sanctuary and of course Skagen (the very northern tip of Denmark) only a short drive from the hotel.
